TitleSunnyvale Fire Station on Washington Street
DescriptionBlack-and-white photograph of the Sunnyvale Fire Station on Washington Street. Located just west of Murphy Avenue, next to the post office on Washington Street, the Sunnyvale Volunteer Fire Department was a civic institution for many years. The volunteers originally organized in 1907 with San Francisco's great fire fresh in their memories. The firehouse shown above was offered to the City in May 1914 to become the City's first fire station. In 1951, the City established the Department of Public Safety.
